Artificial Sunset

Description

Finally, I've finished this. :D I really wanted to make this a multi-character piece where for once I didn't hate how half of them turned out, and it wasn't spliced together from other completed pieces either.

In any case, it requires some explaining as far as Excidium is concerned. In the background is one of the pivotal locations in the story, the flying city: Arcrenian. Or in other words: the sun. Arcrenian basically provides the only sunlight in a dying world. It's hardly sufficient for the whole world though, only covering the continents of Hesperia and Ortea. This means that sunset isn't the sun moving to the other side of the planet, but the 'sun' more or less shutting down for the night. :ninja: The dragon hauling the city behind him is Aurora. As it turns out, he's the one Theo has been summoned to see, which leaves Sasha and Ezalier rather at a loss for words when they find out. :D It would be one thing to recieve a summons to see the Prince or the Celestial Commander, Varland, but this like literally getting a letter from the SUN.

As a character, he's... complicated. ^^; His motivations and intentions are difficult to understand. Until now, he has only offered advice to the remaining human population, but suddenly he's actually giving directions, which is unprecedented and rather scary as the true end results of what he's directing here can only be guessed at, even by those who know him to some extent. This is mainly why the Terrestrial Armed Forces are working so hard to stop this from happening.

The four characters shown in the foreground are in fact the commanders of the Terrestrial Armed Forces under Sagitta.

 Sagitta:fav.me/d8ft6ck

Rastis: (far left) Not one for idle conversation in combat. Rastis is an expert with support artes and uses an assault rifle. (Yes, an assault rifle. :D ) His knight division is known as the Headless Knights and Rastis himself is known as the 'Ghost Knight'. Knows and arte called Sword Storm, (which he developed himself) that can cause bullets to pierce shields. --If you've been reading the skits I've been making in sequence, the main characters are about an hour away from walking right into this guy...

Lastiig: (second from the left) Known as the 'winged knight' or as the Fleet Commander for the Terrestrial Army. See, the Terrestrial forces do have aircraft and their jurisdiction falls over all airspace beneath the layer of haze/clouds that cover the sky in Ortea. Celestial Airspace is anything above that altitude, which is where Arcrenian (background) is situated. Lastiig is very serious, and by far the most active in planning ahead. This is a problem because Theo and his friends need to get up to Arcrenian and that means somehow getting past Lastiig and his fleet. (Ironically, Lastiig was the first commander in this group who had a clear presence in the story and I long ago selected his weapon as a staff, yet he was the last one I came up with an actual design for. ^^; )

Vuren: (far right) A sarcastic, scraggly looking man, older than Sagitta, excellent strategist, but sick of fighting. Likes to sew, surprisingly. It helps him think. He frequently sits with the needle(s) in his teeth while thinking. Uses a long, heavily braced claw and very heavy shield in battle. Commands the Ember Knights who traditionally supported the Torch bearers in their duties. Vuren and Rastis are actually old comrades.

Krypta: (center) Krypta has the least savory task of all the commanders. Despite being the youngest member of this rank, she is specifically used as an assassin. Comes from a village that has a deep hereditary connection with Voros and the Equilibrium.

 Equilibrium in more detail:fav.me/d8mur9r

The connection with Equilibrium makes the main characters' encounters with her very... conflicting, and painful. Krypta's personality is very friendly, which makes her reasoning with her job and her beliefs all the more difficult to comprehend. Because of her job, Krypta is very well armed. Even aside from her primary weapon, a blade called a Lacera, she also carries linked blades (two straight knives connected by a cable) and a bladed crossbow. In other words, she more or less has Ludger's ability to switch weapons on you, although she doesn't have the Lacera in her first encounter. She has a lot of respect for Sagitta and Lastiig; thinks Vuren is kind of a stick in the mud, but still adores him. Commands the thirteen knights of the Divisorem. She is known as the Black Orchid.- Has a younger sister named Seele. :aww:

This one reminds me of a dream I had recently. In it my friend Ramon gave me a framed artwork of a dragon high above the clouds of a dusty red sky. But the artwork turned into a door and I opened it. Then the dragon came down the sky with a distant raw (does dragon say raw) and flew right at me and above my head and right into my house and I turned around but then the dragon had vanished into the air. So i turned back to the door and opened it again and the same thing happened. I opened the door a third time and the same thing happened. Then I realised this is getting boring and swicthed dream.

The sky youve drawn here is very simillar to that one in my dream. My dragon wasnt that big and awesome but it was still a dragon. You really made some interestig characters here. I'm reading their info now. "A sarcastic, scraggly looking man" ooh sarcastic characters, the best kind of characters. Actually I think Vuren sounds like a really interesting character. Krypta also sounds like a damn interesting character!
